Sozan Mirawdaly is an award-winning communicator with two decades of experience in public relations and journalism.

As Director of Corporate Communications and Capital Markets at NATIONAL Public Relations, Canada’s leading public relations firm, Sozan designs successful multi-channel communications campaigns for high-profile organizations across multiple industries. Her content and media relations strategies lead to coverage in top-tier Canadian media outlets and she also advises clients on issues and change management. As one of NATIONAL’s media coaches, she draws on her journalism experience to deliver engaging, insightful media training sessions for executives and corporate spokespeople.

Sozan is adept at helping clients connect with their stakeholders to build brand awareness through engaging and educational content.

Prior to her career in communications, Sozan worked as a journalist at publications including Maclean’s magazine and the Ottawa Citizen where she covered politics, business, human rights issues, and the socio-economic climate in a post-Saddam Hussein Iraqi-Kurdistan. This experience gives her the ability to take complex information and data and distil it into a clear and compelling message, along with first-hand knowledge of what the media needs to be interested in a story.

Sozan holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of King’s College and is a Canadian Museum for Human Rights Contributor. She is committed to advancing the communications industry by finding ways to connect campaigns to human stories to make an impact. Sozan sits on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at NATIONAL Public Relations in Toronto.
