John Perenack is a Principal at StrategyCorp and a strategic communications and engagement expert with 30 years’ experience. A trusted advisor on corporate reputation, he helps organizations communicate effectively with government, markets, media, communities, and other critical interest holders.
A specialist in crisis communications and reputation management, John has guided organizations through their most complex challenges – from providing communications counsel on controversial mergers and acquisitions across Canada, the US, Europe, and the Middle East, to addressing kidnapping and acts of financial crime.
His leadership in interest-holder engagement has helped advance some of the country’s most complex and high-profile development projects, including a $700 million waterfront development and more than $3 billion in new hospital projects.
John also advises clients on First Nations and urban Indigenous engagement, with a focus on fostering reconciliation, collaboration, and lasting partnerships for the benefit of both the firm’s clients and Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
A seasoned media strategist and spokesperson coach, he prepares senior executives and public figures to face the media with confidence and control – developing clear, compelling messaging and coaching clients through the toughest questions.
Since becoming an equity owner at StrategyCorp in 2015, John has led the creation and growth of its communications practice. The company’s public relations team now totals 20+ professionals, including a full creative services team.
John holds an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from York University’s Schulich School of Business, and a BA from the University of Toronto.
