Kim Daynard

Kim Daynard is a senior communications leader with 25 years of experience directing award-winning communications, media relations, events, and creative services.

Kim began her career at the Toronto Star before moving into the corporate sector as Manager of Media Relations for Sears Canada. She then spent more than a decade as Director of Communications at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (now NOSM University), where she led strategic communications during a period of significant institutional growth and increased national and international visibility.

In 2017, Kim joined the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as Manager of Strategic Communications and Issues. She has since held various senior roles within the OPP’s Corporate Communications Bureau and currently serves as Senior Manager of Events and Public Relations. In these roles, Kim has contributed to communication strategies that support public safety for the people of Ontario and advance the initiatives and priorities of the OPP.

A CPRS-accredited public relations professional, Kim holds a Master’s Degree in Film and Video from York University, an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Film (Major) and English (Minor) from Queen’s University, and a Master’s Certificate in Marketing Communications from the Schulich School of Business. She also earned a diploma in Creative Writing from Humber College. In 2026, Kim was one of nine Canadians inducted into the CPRS College of Fellows.

Fun Facts:

  • Kim was invited by the Dean of Flinders University’s Northern Territory Medical Program in 2013 to consult on the development of a new communications unit in Darwin, Australia.
  • Since 2019, Kim has volunteered as a judge for the CPRS Toronto ACE Awards and has also assisted with the most recent CPRS National Awards of Excellence jury.
  • As Manager of Media Relations at Sears, Kim led the official Canadian media launch of Martha Stewart Everyday, including selecting and arranging Martha Stewart’s interviews and appearances across Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
  • Kim loves travelling and has visited 21 countries outside of Canada.
