COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC AFFAIRS INTERN

The Canadian Beverage Association (CBA), the leading voice of the non-alcoholic beverage sector in Canada, is seeking a Communications and Public Affairs Intern. This role is well-suited for a motivated individual looking to build their communications and public affairs skills in a dynamic, flexible environment.

We are looking for candidates with diverse skills who can make a meaningful contribution during their internship and may be considered for future full-time opportunities within the association, depending on organizational needs and candidate fit.

Job Description:
• Complete projects with the communications and public affairs team.
• Track and monitor media coverage relevant to issues facing the non-alcoholic beverage sector.
• Support the coordination of association events including webinars, strategic meetings, stakeholder relations events.
• Conduct research on the media landscape and related influencer activity.
• Develop communication materials to support campaigns, including member informs, press releases, social media content, tracking campaigns, and member newsletters.
• Prepare and deliver end-of-internship presentation to Senior Director, Communications and Public Affairs, highlighting key projects and learnings from the internship.

Qualifications – Experience and Skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with members, co-workers, and volunteers in a professional manner.
• Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate ability to employ creative, innovative and strategic thinking.
• Exhibit tact, discretion, and the ability to use sound judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
• Consistently maintain high accuracy and thoroughness when executing tasks.
• Able to work independently and efficiently, detail oriented, and have ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Qualifications – Education
• Currently completing or recently completed undergraduate degree, or post-graduate certification or degree in communications, journalism, business, political science or a related field.
• Bilingualism is considered an asset
• Eligible to work legally in Canada
